This is happening!

Adoption_-4

This is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while… start a blog! So I figured, why not now? For those of you who don’t know, Daniel and I have started the special needs adoption process via India. If you’re wondering who Daniel or I are, then head on over to the “about” section to get a little glimpse of what makes us the Wilhite Family. This will be a place for me to openly and very publicly share the ends and outs of our adoption journey. It’s definitely a “journey” because we are leaping in faith on going where God has clearly called us to go. Yes, we are a family who loves Jesus and definitely aren’t afraid to put that out there. Some of you make be putting on the brakes on following this blog due to that statement, and that’s OK… BUT I ask that you would be open to giving it a shot for a few more posts. Do you love culture? Good thing for you we have chosen India! Do you like kids? Well then you’re in luck, we have two already (who will surely be talked about) and are hoping to add one or maybe two more! Do you have a heart for those who might be considered “less-worthy” of a family’s love due to a physical need? Special needs adoption, that’s the route we’re taking. Why you ask? Trust me, people have already asked! Well, Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” So our question to you would be, why not? Our God does not make mistakes and we are trusting HIM completely in this. There is a perfect child out there who is ours. We may not know their name, but we do know that our precious child was created perfectly by a perfect God! Another verse that is dear to us right now is John 14:18 “I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.” Although Jesus is talking about His ascension into Heaven in this verse and how we have the Holy Spirit as our direct access to Him, to me personally it’s very much applicable to our adoption. Adoption is a beautiful parallel to the Gospel which we’re very stoked about bringing to light in our lives!

A little bit of where we’re currently at in the process: the beginning, literally. We’ve contracted with Faith International out of Seattle, WA as our placing agency. To say that we are happy with this decision would be an understatement…ecstatic would be more appropriate. They have gone above and beyond to answer our millions of questions with millions more to come. Children’s Hope International is our home study agency. That in itself is scary! For those who know us, we are fairly private people. You’re probably wondering why in the world this blog is happening then… Well, it’s simple really, I promised God that this would be used to glorify Him. I’m pretty sure my silent and introverted self has to step out a bit to fulfill that promise. Anyway, our initial home study meeting is set for Tuesday, July 21st! Prayers are definitely appreciated.

We created a video to document the start of our journey and to accompany our fundraising efforts. If you haven’t seen it already it can be viewed HERE. The insanely talented Hassan Kahn of Truly Refined came into our home and allowed us to be real about why we’re doing this. WARNING if you haven’t watched it already – It’s emotional! My man even sheds a tear or two. Daniel and I are blown away that the video has been viewed 1,270 times. That’s so exciting because that means that many have already been exposed to our testimony and our love for Jesus. Yay!

Well, that’s about all I’ve got for now. Don’t you worry though, I will continue to blog. I love to write, period. So, to be able to write about something that I’m passionate about really makes me giddy.

Much love,

Patti
